Good morning my dear fur friends,
I am over whelmed by all the purrrs for me and I really think they helped. The results from my x-ray showed that there is no change in the size of my heart. However, an x-ray does not show if my conditon is worse. I have to go to the big veterinary place in Buffalo Grove for a new heart scan and blood work. I will do that after I finish my meds. My cough is a little better thanks to all your purrs.
Fiona on the other hand has some health issues. Her virus has gone away, but her gums are bad. She two large red lesions that are very large and very infected. No wonder she runs wild and wants to bite everything, she is in real pain. The vet said she has had these for a while and that it must be taken care of. The fee for this is over $1,000 between the visits, the blood work, teeth cleaning, and extracting two teeth and possible biopsy of one of the lesions. The vet gave Fiona antibiotics to help the infection and she has to go back in a week to see if the swellings have gone down.
Mom and dad take us to VCA Animal Hospitals for our regular visits, teeth cleaning, etc. VCA ia very expensive. I only go to the big vet center for my heart care. Mom said she really does not have many choices for quality vet care in Chicago. She checked out Petsmarts- Banfield, but they do not have good reviews for quality health care. Many complaints- many! So Fiona will not be going there for her gum and teeth problems.
Mom contacted the previous owner explaining the situation with Fiona's bad gums and teeth and all the vet bills that Fiona has caused. The owner said her vet said she was fine and she will not pay to have Fiona taken care of. She said she cannot help any infection she gets. Mom said our vet said that she came with this problem and that this not a two week infection, she has had this for a while. Fiona needs care so mom and dad really have no options but to fix her gums and teeth problems or put her down which they do not want to do. Please purr for Fiona that the swelling in her gums go down and that her pain goes away and that mom and dad can figure out a way to pay for Fiona's gum and teeth issues.
Purrrs to all of you who have purred for me , you are truly the best fur friends anyone can have in this whole world.

Well, Spot, we are very happy that the news about you is good. We were really worried there for a while.
That's terrible about Fiona! I bet her previous owners knew about this and that's why they didn't want to keep her. Poor little thing!
Bless you for taking such good care of her and doing the right thing, even though it may cause some hardship.
Poor Fiona and Harry I hope he's well as well. As far as the financial stuff goes for Fiona have you thought about getting a chipin widget for donations to help pay for it? We all know times are tough and a sudden $1000+ bill is not fun for anyone. But with the chipIn widget if people wanted they could donate to help anything from 10 cents to $10 or more but every bit could help.
I hope both of your get well soon! *healing purrs for both of you*
And Tygana is right, you should think about setting up one of those donation widgets.
I feel for you both! The chip in widget sounds like a great idea! Sending healing purrs!

We're glad the news is decent for you, Spot, and hope the big scan will yield god results. We are terribly sorry that poor little Fiona is having all those problems and that her breeders are not being decent about it. When she lived in Chicago, #1 used to take her then cat, Ikkyu, to McKillip Animal Hospital and then to the Cat Hospital of Chicago. She thinks both were good, but she thinks that all pet care in the States is really pricey.
Keeping our paws crossed for both of you!
Harry, we is glad you are feelin better!! Our brother Rudy had cardiomyopathy--nasty! He went to Abbeywood Cat Clinic in Naperville. Dr. Barclay is just wonderful(but not cheap!!) and her husband teaches at the UI Vet School. Between them, our dear Rudy lived much longer than anyone expected or even hoped for.
Poor Fiona--no wonder she has been such a b#%*h. Anyone would be hurting that much.
If you set up a Chipit or just get Paypal Mumma would like to help. We have been very fortunate this year, so we have a few green papers left over.

We are glad your exam went well, Mr Spotter. Our mewmie is a vet tech and she said she would be happy to help you with advice if you need any help or info (she has like over 400 bookmarked websites on cat health info etc) and she knows lots about hearts and mouth problems.
Yep, frustrating to know that her previous owner won't own up to issues that Fiona came with. We all know that just cuz one vet says all is well doesn't mean a lot. When our mewmie places an retired cat into a new home, she makes sure she has all the stuff done before they leave here, such as full exam, lab work, dentistry etc.
And even though she gets a nice employee discount, it still often runs more than what she even asks for the kitty, and sometimes she places them for free...but it's just the responsible thing to do!
Yes, VCA's because they are a corporation seem to be more expensive and less flexible than other practices. Our mewmie says it's better to go to a good cat/dog practice than a bad all cat one, but I would say to maybe try the two clinics that Tama-Chan recommended.
And yes, Fiona doesn't know where the hurtie is coming from so it sure could make her grumpy and grouchy!
Our mewmie said to email her and let her know if you'd like to chat by phone, ok.
I'm so sorry Fiona has a hurty mouth. I hate teeths! They cause nothing but problems.
Spot, did you know my sister Pixie had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy? She was on 4 different medicines and saw a cardiologist every 6 months for an ultra sound.
Hi Fiona and Harry! I just wanted you to know I made a post about Fiona and donating to her treatment on my blog in case anyone stops by that doesn't know about it already. I'm purraying for Fiona!
We would be happy to help out. Vet bills can be so expensive.

Spot, we're glad you are feeling better but we are so sorry to hear about Fiona's teefs!! We will purr that you can raise enough $$$ to help poor Fiona!
Hi Spot, we are so happy you fel better, and hope Fiona is well soon too. PURRS!
Poor Fiona! Wish we had some green papers to donate. But we are purring and wagging tails for her to be able to have this taken care of soon. That must be so painful.
As to Banfield ... grrrrr. They really aren't what they claim.
Harry, we hope you and Fiona both get well real soon. I'm glad to see you have a ChipIn widget, I will put on my blog and tweet to bunches and bunches of Twitter friends, you never know who might be willing to help out. My sisters and I are sending loving purrs to both of you!!!
We agree that vet care in Chicago is very expensive! But everything in Chicago is expensive. We love our vet who is in Arlington Heights and have been going to her for 20 years. We get excellent care there.
